VG-8 Automatic Reciprocating Multi-Head Cross 'V' Groover

The finished, glued and folded workpieces have to be cross grooved before they are folded into a box or polygon shape. For this operation the simplest and less expensive machines are our Reciprocating Cross 'V' Groovers, belonging to our VG family. These machines are available with various dimensions and features to give solutions for almost every cross-grooving application.

Cross grooving demands the greatest accuracy from the 'V' Grooving equipment since the tolerance of the grooves are multiplied when the workpiece is folded together into a box. We have designed and built our VG type multiple cross-groovers to satisfy and exceed these high accuracy requirements.

A high pressure low volume vacuum system is used to hold workpieces in an accurate position while the grooving is performed. The vacuum is released before the table reaches the end of the stroke. To discharge finished boards, automatic lifter arms are used. Then the table returns automatically to the infeed end to start the next cycle. The finished workpieces have to be removed manually from the outfeed area of the machine.

For easy lateral adjustments, individual digital readouts are used for each motor. The reciprocating tables are driven by a hydraulic motor. Cut depth is precisely set using dial indicators on each motor mount. The feed speeds are infinitely variable within the specified range. The standard machines are designed to use 90° standard 'V' Grooving cutters and two saws for the 45° end trimming cuts. For cutting extra high folds, saw heads have to be used. This type of application should be consulted with us, since we have several special machines available for 'V' Grooving with saw blades. For special applications, jump routers can be installed on the second overhead beam. These routers can cut grooves into the board in any position within the geometrical limits of the Router Heads.
